As per NDTV news website sources, In a groundbreaking shift to transform the workweek in the United Kingdom, more than 200 British companies have committed to a permanent four-day workweek for all employees, with no reduction in pay.
These companies, which collectively employ over 5,000 people, are particularly dominated by charities, marketing, and technology firms, according to a report from The Guardian citing the 4 Day Week Foundation.
Supporters of the four-day workweek argue that the traditional five-day schedule is a relic of a past economic era. Joe Ryle, campaign director of the foundation, called for a change, stating that the "9-5, five-day workweek was established 100 years ago and is no longer suitable for today’s needs. It's well past time for an update."
He added that with 50% more free time, "a four-day workweek offers individuals the opportunity to lead happier, more fulfilling lives."
